REALTOR of the YEAR 2011
Kent County Assoc of Realtors
Hi! ﾠEveryone just calls me JT. ﾠSomeone hung those initials on me many years ago in a bowling match and it stuck. My full name is John Thomas Takacs but, I say, why deal with wrestling your tongue around my last name...
Just ask for JT!
I love what I do and have been doing it since the early 90's. I've got a vey strong background in business, management, marketing and advertising so those skills seem to be appreciated by my clients. Especially good folks looking to sell their homes.
But also... I grew up in a family owned restaurant, a real mom and pop kind of place, so I was lucky enough to learn old fashioned customer service at my parents knees since I was a little boy. ﾠAnd working there everyday after school gave me a great work ethic. ﾠLater I had my own successful restaurant for many years.
What's interesting is that I can't remember a day in my life that I didn't have this special group of people known to me as customers or clients! ﾠAnd people appreciate those finely honed customer service skills too, especially home buyers.
When I first entered this career, I became Rookie of the Year for my agency and when I moved to Delaware years ago, I was named Rookie of the Year all over again in my new agency. ﾠ(Although I never thought that was fair since I had a lot of experience already!)
Yes, I have plenty of those alphabet soup designation initials to put after my name, like GRI, which stands for Graduate Realtor Institute and others.
At our yearly Awards Banquet I was voted having the "Best Laugh"
At our yearly Awards Banquet, receiving my top honors as Listing Agent of the Year 2013 in both the number of homes put on the market and the dollar volume.
I was quite surprised and humbled upon being named Realtor of Year. And they made me give an acceptance speech...
Accepting the "Going Above and Beyond" award for always trying to do a little extra for people. 2012
Landscaping on our annual RED Day, where we do some good honest-hard manual work and give back to the community. Doing some weeding with fellow Realtor BJ Corey
Charity fund raiser in the office. The powers that be decided I should be one of the first to get "flocked" by flamingos in my office. They were everywhere in here.
Helping to raise money for Keller Williams KW Cares fund with a car wash As you can see, we had help.
Group picture on RED Day, before we head out to work on helping projects around town. I'm in there somewhere.
Each year we can volunteer to get a few Christmas gifts for the children at Murphey's School in Dover. My child had an interest in art so I got her an assortment of art supplies.
During our Flamingo Flocking charity drive for KW Cares, I tended to the herd of Flamingos for an afternoon
In just three short days after Hurricane Sandy, we managed to donate enough supplies, like diapers, water, food, pet food, etc. to fill up 8 vans and pickups for a trip up to hard hit NJ. This was loading day early Sun morn
Getting nourishment before our Giving Back to the Community Day, we call RED Day 2012. I think we did mostly landscaping that day. With super mortgage rep Bobbi Jones of New Penn Financial

Currently I'm working towards achieving a MIRM which is Master of Real Estate Marketing and an IMSD, which is Internet Marketing Specialist Designation, but there's still more tests and approvals before I achieve these two. ﾠEducation is important to me and I believe very much in helping other real estate agents.
I've Chaired the Education Committee for the Kent County Assocation of Realtors and am the ﾠEducation Chair for Keller Williams Central Delaware. ﾠI serve on our Agent Leadership Council for my office, as part of being among the top percentage of agents in my office.
I also enjoy graphic design, ad design and logo design, having done countless flyers, adsﾠand logos. ﾠNot too long ago I won the logo competition for Downtown Dover Partnership, and I still get a kick every time I happen upon it in a publication or signage.
I love Delaware from top to bottom and I love sharing my new discoveries, recommendations and tips with all whom I work with!

Over the years I've earned quite a few awards by working harder and putting in more effort but I've also been humbly honored to have recognized for an award not expected... REALTOR of the Year. Civic and Community Work
I've always believed that we all need to lend a helping hand in our own community. Giving money is always good but I've always felt that there's more to be gained by picking up a hammer... or a stock pot... or just giving of my time.
·I've been involved with the American Heart Associations Annual Heart Ball for over 13 years, having been either a volunteer, co-chair or chair of the Casino Committee. 2002-present
·A number of times each year I prepare a home cooked dinner for the men's homeless shelter in Dover, the Mens Interfaith Shelter. Each time, I look forward to seeing the guys and hearing about their successes.
·Very active member of the Presbyterian Church of Dover where I have served as Chair of the Administration and Budget Committee, having prepared our church’s budget for a number of years, served back to back 3-year terms on the church’s governing body of Session, Chaired the 15-member Pastor Nominating Committee, (a specially elected task force that met for approximately a year to search for a new pastor), served a Treasurer of the church, and who knows how many other smaller committees and volunteer opportunists.
·Recently asked to be a founding Board Member of a newly formed charity, Second Chance Ranch, a horse rescue that also works with children.
·In 2007, won the competition to design the logo currently in use for Downtown Dover Partnership
·In 2014, asked to serve as a member of the Downtown Dover Partnership as part of the Marketing and Publicity committee.
·Worked on site for a number of Habitat for Humanity Projects, and in one or two builds, participated in the build every week.
·Active participant in the Keller Williams RED Day each May. Once a year, every Keller Williams office around the country closes for the day and agents offer their time and abilities to helping in our communities. Sample projects have been re-doing and cleaning landscaping beds for the Modern Maturity Center, working on hanyman projects at the Murphey School in Dover, revitalizing and repairing private homes around town with new roofs, wheelchair ramps, etc. If you'd like to know more about Keller Williams RED Day or perhaps have a project to be considered, you can learn more at this outside link.
